Thrive Together Community-Based Organization (CBO) is a grassroots, non-profit initiative based in Mombasa County dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with disabilities and developmental challenges, including autism and physical impairments. We work hand in hand with families, communities, and relevant government departments to ensure that every child — regardless of ability — has the opportunity to reach their full potential in a supportive, inclusive environment. Thrive Together CBO is open to partnerships with like-minded organizations, both locally and internationally, that share our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and empowerment.
A society where all children, regardless of ability, thrive
in dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity.
Our Collaborative Approach
Thrive Together CBO works closely with:
- Mombasa County Government and relevant departments (Health, Education, and
Social Services)
- National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD)
- Faith-based and community organizations
- Corporate and development partners who support inclusion, child protection,
and disability rights.
Families of children with disabilities are often left without guidance, resulting in delayed diagnosis, limited therapy access, and caregiver burnout. Our initiative bridges this gap by providing consistent, affordable, community-based support — empowering both children and their families to thrive together.
To improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and their families, with a particular focus on those living with disabilities and developmental challenges.
Our key focus areas and activities include:
• Establishing a Therapy and Support Centre for Children
with Special Needs — a safe and well-equipped space offering consistent,
professional care.
• Providing Occupational Therapy to enhance daily living and motor skills.
• Offering Play Therapy to promote emotional expression, social interaction,
and behavioral development.
• Providing Speech Therapy to support children with communication difficulties.
• Implementing Water Therapy (Hydrotherapy) to improve mobility, sensory
integration, and relaxation.
• Conducting mental wellness sessions for parents and
caregivers to help them manage stress and emotional strain.
• Organizing parent workshops on:
- Nutritional needs and diet planning
for children with special needs
- Positive parenting and home-based
therapy techniques
- Understanding developmental disorders
and early intervention.
• Creating educational opportunities for children with
special needs through inclusive learning environments and school partnerships.
• Advocating for accessible education and infrastructure within Mombasa County
and beyond.
• Providing basic needs such as food, hygiene items, and
assistive devices to families in need.
• Linking vulnerable households to social protection and government support
programs.
